  • Mr. S.G. Gulati - Independent Director
  • Mr. S. G. Gulati, after a stint of nearly 12 years in the engineering field as mechanical engineer, he joined Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) in 1979, where he worked at various positions and was the Executive Director in-charge of large and mid-corporate operations, besides HR and Administration. He retired from IDBI in 2003 after serving for over 24 years in the project financing and financial services space.

    Mr. Gulati gained valuable experience in the fields of Project Finance. He was closely associated with restructuring and intensive monitoring of implementation of large projects. He was also responsible for containment of NPAs and recovery out of sticky loans through aggressive negotiations, legal action, one time settlements, etc. Shri Gulati has also been the member of Corporate Debt Restructuring (CDR) Committee, besides other relevant professional committees/groups.

    Mr. Gulati interacted with top business leaders, senior Government officials both at Central and State levels, multilateral Institutions such as World Bank, IFC (W), etc. Shri Gulati also served on various internal committees of IDBI.

    During the service in IDBI Mr. Gulati has served on the Boards of various companies.

  • Mr. Ashok Kini - Independent Director
  • Mr. Kini joined State Bank of India as Probationary Officer in 1967 and held key positions during a 38 year long banking career and including the position of Managing Director from which he retired on December 31, 2005. During his tenure with State Bank of India, Mr. Kini had extensive exposure to its lending activities in the Retail, SSI, Agricultural and Industrial Finance segments and to Information Technology. He was also a Chairman of a Regional Rural Bank. Mr. Kini has been an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of many Companies. He also served as an Advisor to Thorat Committee on Financial Inclusion at RBI.

  • Mr. Siby Antony – Chairman
  • Mr. Siby Antony has over four decades of experience in Banking and Financial Services, especially in the space of Distressed Assets. Mr. Siby has been instrumental in setting up the Distressed Assets Business in Edelweiss Group.

    Prior to Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company Limited, he had an aggregate service of over 35 years as a banker. Starting his career with the Reserve Bank of India in 1969, he moved to IDBI, India’s principal Development Financial Institution in 1975. Pursuing a very successful career in IDBI, he had grown to the position of Executive Director. He was appointed as the Executive Trustee of Stressed Assets Stabilization Fund, a Rs. 9000 Crore Fund created by Government of India to take over the stressed loans of IDBI, prior to its merger with IDBI Bank. He was also associated with the Corporate Debt Restructuring mechanism since inception and he was the Chairman of the Empowered Group of CDR until 2008. He also served on the board of ARCIL, the pioneering Asset Reconstruction Company in the country, as a nominee of IDBI. During his career with IDBI, as a senior executive in the Project Finance Department he was in-Charge of sectors namely, Oil & Gas, Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Steel and Textiles, besides Road & Ports. He was also associated with the Inter Institutional Group constituted by Government of India and RBI for studying the issues connected with the flow of investment in infrastructure. He represented IDBI in the informal committee constituted by Ministry of Surface Transport (MOST), Government of India for drafting/finalisation of the Model Concession agreement for road projects.

  • Ms. Vidya Shah - Non Executive Non Independent Director
  • Ms. Vidya Shah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Mumbai and PGDBM from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA).

    She has spent the first 11 years of her career in investment banking with companies like ICICI Limited in the Leasing and Financing Department, served as a Head of Crossborder and Structured Finance of Peregrine Capital India Private Limited and Head of Telecommunications in NM Rothschild India Private Limited. Besides this she also advised corporations in Capital Raising and M&A transactions.

    Ms. Vidya Shah joined Edelweiss in 2000 and was responsible for various important functions such as Finance, Human Resources and Administration, with a major stint as the Chief Financial Officer of Edelweiss Financial Services Limited.

    Ms. Vidya Shah is presently responsible for the philanthropic activities of the Edelweiss Group through Edelgive Foundation and leads Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the Edelweiss Group.

    Ms. Vidya Shah is also on the Boards of various Companies and Non-profit Organisations.

  • Mr. Venkatchalam Ramaswamy - Non Executive Non Independent Director
  • Mr. Venkatchalam Ramaswamy is an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, United States of America and Bachelor’s Degree holder in Electronics Engineering.

    After having worked in ICICI Limited and as a fund manager with Spartek Fund – one of India’s early PE fund – Mr. Venkat co-founded Edelweiss Financial Services Limited.

    He is widely recognised as one of India’s finest deal makers. Amongst his responsibilities at Edelweiss, he also Co-Heads two of the Group’s most strategic businesses – Distress Assets & Resolution Business and Global Asset Management, while continuing to play a mentorship role with the Edelweiss Investment Banking business. Mr. Venkat Ramaswamy is also instrumental in formation of Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company Limited.

  • Mr. Vikas Balia - Non Executive Non Independent Director
  • Dr. Vikas Balia is a rank holder throughout. He started his career in legal profession with Mulla & Mulla & Craigie Blunt and Caroe, Bombay, in 1998, pursuing a wide range of litigation and non-litigation work. He chose to explore the pulsating arena of litigation at Bombay High Court with Senior Advocate, Pradeep Sancheti. Eventually Vikas returned to his hometown to practice at the Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur and is currently running a full service law firm Legalsphere with a network of associate offices across the country, specializing in corporate, commercial, constitutional & other civil matters, litigation and non-litigation work including transactions, due diligences and advisory work. Vikas with a predilection for academic pursuits, received a Masters degree in Mercantile Laws, coming second in the University, in 2001 followed with a Doctorate on Securitization Laws in the year 2010. He has authored papers on interface of law with finance and economics. Vikas is a guest lecturer for CA, Law and MBA students a few times every year.

  • Ms. Anita M. George - Non Executive Non Independent Director
  • Ms. Anita Marangoly George has been Managing Director of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), South Asia since April 2016. Ms. George has a solid track record in managing global investment portfolios in infrastructure, specifically in the energy, oil and gas, mining, water, transportation and logistics sectors.

    Before joining CDPQ India, Ms George was Senior Director of the World Bank Group’s Global Practice on Energy and Extractives. Prior to her position at the World Bank, Ms. George was Director of Infrastructure and Natural Resources at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Before that, she was Head of Siemens Financial Services in India.

    Ms. George holds a Bachelor of Economics and Spanish from Smith College, in Massachusetts, and a Masters in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Boston University. She has travelled extensively and spent several years in Washington, D.C. while covering growth markets globally. She has in-depth knowledge of private and public development institutions, and extensive experience in many regions of the globe including Europe, South and Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

  • Mr. Raj Kumar Bansal - Managing Director & CEO
  • Raj Kumar Bansal, a Chartered Accountant joined IDBI in December 5, 1983 as a Management Trainee. He holds more than 33 years of experience covering both development banking and commercial banking, which includes 8 years in the top management team as Executive Director of IDBI Bank. Mr. Bansal retired from IDBI Bank on March 15, 2017.

    Mr. Bansal was the Chairman of CDR Empowered Group and a member of Top Management Committees – Credit, Policy, System, Product and Process, ALCO, RBS Committee, HR, Internal Advisory, Fraud Review, Audit Committee of Executives, Investment Committee, etc.

    Have broad and diversified experience in all functional areas of banking such as Corporate Banking, Project Appraisal, Corporate Debt Restructuring[CDR], Retail Banking, International Banking, Finance & Accounts [CFO], Resources, Recovery, Investments, Treasury, Operations, etc. as top team leader.

    His major strength and experience is in resolving stress assets. He has been handling many of the large stressed groups/accounts and exposure as CDR EG Chairman has added to the experience. This is further strengthened as Chairman of ARCIL.

    He is also the member of Standing Committee on Retail Banking of Indian Banks Association (IBA).

    Previous board membership includes IDBI Federal Life Insurance Co. Ltd., ISIL, J.K. Lakshmi Cement Ltd., Uttam Value Steels Ltd., SIDBI, IDBI Asset Management Ltd., NSDL and NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd.

    Mr. Bansal was also deputed by IDBI as a Director to Stockholding Corporation of India Ltd. (SHCIL), IDBI Mutual Fund (now renamed as Principal Mutual Fund) and IDBI Federal Life Insurance.

  • Mr. P. N. Venkatachalam
  • Mr. P. N. Venkatachalam has wide experience in the banking sector and has also worked in the software industry in Banking & Finance verticals. Mr. P. N. Venkatachalam is presently an Independent Director of Edelweiss Financial Services Limited, the Holding Company of the Company. He joined State Bank of India in 1967 and retired in 2004 as its Managing Director. He was a member of the Interim Pension Fund Regulatory Authority of India. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and is a Certified Associate from the Indian Institute of Bankers.
